Something for every kind of date lover (even those who say they don't like dates)

Dates can taste surprisingly different depending on the variety and how they are prepared. Some are intensely sweet and syrupy, others mild and earthy, buttery, chewy or soft. Beyond whole dates, you’ll also find pressed dates, date bars, syrup and cacao-coated dates, each offering a different way to enjoy the fruit.

I’ve never liked dates before. Are dates just not for me?

Maybe, dates are not for everyone. But many people who say they do not like dates have simply never tried a really good variety, and the difference can be bigger than you might expect.

Kholas and Ajwa are especially good places to start. Ajwa dates are less intensely sweet than many other varieties, with a mild, earthy flavour and a firmer bite. Kholas are very soft and buttery, with a caramel-like sweetness that can feel almost like sweet butter.

If the dates you have tried before were overly sugary, dry or tough, a different variety may completely change your impression.

What makes dattelmond dates different?

For us, it starts with the fruit itself. Our dates come from our partner farm in Saudi Arabia, where they are grown naturally and harvested by hand. We work with distinct date varieties because a good date should have its own flavour and character, not simply taste sweet.

There is no added sugar, glucose syrup, oil or other unnecessary additives in any of our products. What you taste comes from the dates themselves.

Our connection to the farm is direct and personal. Maan, the co-founder of dattelmond, visits the farm whenever he visits his family in Saudi Arabia, staying connected to the people, palms and land behind our dates.

Sustainability is at the heart of how the farm is run. Through permaculture, the farmers focus heavily on biodiversity, careful water management and building healthy, nutrient-rich soil while growing without pesticides. The aim is not simply to take from the land, but to leave it healthier than it was yesterday. That philosophy shapes everything from how the palms are cared for to how the farm continues to develop.
