What are Cocohagen date bars?

Cocohagen bars start with whole dates, which make up most of each recipe and give the bars their natural sweetness and soft texture.

From there, the flavours go in very different directions. Some combine dates with dark cacao and roasted nuts, while others use coffee, vanilla, orange or blackcurrant.

They are made in Humlebæk, Denmark, using organic ingredients and without added sugar, additives or preservatives.

The result sits somewhere between a date snack and a little chocolatey treat: rich and satisfying, but still made from ingredients you can actually recognise.

What makes Cocohagen different from other date bars?

Cocohagen keeps the recipes simple. Every ingredient is added for a reason.

Dates make up most of each bar, with a small number of other ingredients added depending on the flavour, like cacao, nuts, coffee, vanilla or fruit. There is no added sugar, no soy, no peas, no seed oils, no preservatives and no unnecessary extras.

The bars are made on a small scale in Humlebæk, Denmark. The team at Cocohagen put a lot of passion into their bars and that's reflected in their taste & quality. Every step from the farming of the dates, recipe creation, bar-making, etc is done with so much attention and care to detail.

Which flavour should I try?

The flavours are genuinely quite different, so there is not one obvious place to start.

Cocoa is the original and a good all-rounder, with dark cacao, roasted almonds, cashews and coconut.

Hazel is for hazelnut lovers, with roasted hazelnuts and a rich, almost nougat-like flavour.

Triple Cocoa is the most cacao-forward of the range, with cocoa powder, cocoa mass and cocoa butter.

Barista combines cacao, roasted almonds and coffee and works especially well alongside a cup of coffee.

Vanilla is one of the most popular flavours and a personal favourite of both Maan and Zoé. It is softer and rounder, pairing dark cacao with real vanilla.

Orange adds a fresh citrus note to the dark cacao.

Oats with Almonds combines cacao with oats and roasted almonds for a slightly softer, nuttier bar with a bit more texture.

Currant is the fruitiest and slightly more tart, with blackcurrant balancing the sweetness of the dates.

Not sure where to begin? The 8 × 20g mix set includes one of each flavour: Cocoa, Barista, Triple Cocoa, Currant, Vanilla, Hazel, Oats with Almonds & Orange.

faq

Do Cocohagen bars contain added sugar?

No. None of the Cocohagen bars in our range contain added sugar.

Their sweetness comes primarily from the dates themselves, which make up the majority of each recipe.

Are Cocohagen bars organic and plant-based?

Yes. The Cocohagen bars we offer are made with certified organic ingredients and are completely plant-based.

They are also gluten-free and lactose-free.

Do Cocohagen bars contain nuts?

Some do, some don't, it depends on the flavour.

Contain nuts:

Cocoa, Hazel, Oats wth Almonds & Barista

Do not contain nuts as ingredients:

Vanilla, Triple Cocoa, Orange and Currant

All Cocohagen bars may contain traces of nuts, so they are not suitable for people who need to strictly avoid nut traces.

What is the difference between the 20g and 40g bars?

The recipe is the same. The difference is simply the size.

The 20g bars are small individual portions and are available in all seven flavours.

Selected flavours are also available in 40g, created for the bestsellers that people kept coming back for because they enjoyed them so much.

Is there a way to try several flavours at once?

Yes.

Our 8 × 20g mix set contains one of every Cocohagen flavour: Cocoa, Barista, Triple Cocoa, Currant, Vanilla, Hazel, Oats with Almonds & Orange.

There is also a 5 × 40g set with five of the most popular larger bars: Cocoa, Hazelnut, Vanilla, Oats with Almonds & Triple Chocolate.

They are the easiest way to find your favourites.
