  • Grown in Permaculture

Good for the land, good for us.

By working with nature instead of against it, the farm keeps the soil healthy, focuses on biodiversity & grows our dates without pesticides.

Our dates are harvested by hand, allowing each fruit to be picked at the right time by farmers who know the palms.

  • Family Visit = Farm Visit

    Home means the palms, too.

Maan, the co-founder of dattelmond, visits the farm whenever he visits his family in Saudi Arabia. It means staying connected to the people who grow our dates & seeing for ourselves what’s happening on the farm.

What can be made from dates?

Dates are naturally sweet, soft and versatile, which makes them useful in all kinds of products.

Raw date syrup can be collected from them, while the fruit itself can be blended into mixtures, used to sweeten snacks or combined with ingredients like cacao, nuts and spices.

Depending on how they are used, dates can either be the main flavour or simply add natural sweetness and a soft, rich texture in the background.

That is one of the things we love about them. The same fruit can end up tasting and feeling completely different depending on what is made from it.

Why use dates instead of refined sugar?

Dates do more than just make something sweet.

They also bring their own flavour, texture and naturally occurring nutrients, with caramel-like notes that work especially well with ingredients like cacao, nuts and coffee.

Using dates as a sweetening ingredient can give a product much more character than sweetness alone.

What is raw date syrup?

Raw date syrup is made from dates without cooking them.

It has a rich, caramel-like sweetness and a thick, pourable texture. You can use it much like you would use honey or another syrup: over yoghurt or porridge, in smoothies, baking, desserts or simply anywhere you want a little extra sweetness.

Our raw date syrup is made entirely from dates, with nothing else added.

What makes ours unique is the way it is produced. Most date syrups are made by cooking dates in water and then concentrating the resulting liquid with further heat. Ours is collected without cooking the dates, keeping it much closer to the form in which the syrup naturally develops in the fruit itself.

Do your date products contain added sugar?

No. None of the date products we currently offer contain added sugar.

Simple ingredient lists are a core part of dattelmond. We deliberately offer products where the dates and other ingredients can speak for themselves, without unnecessary additives or heavy processing.

Are all of your date products made only from dates?

No.

Some products, like our raw date syrup, are made entirely from dates. Others combine dates with additional ingredients such as cacao or nuts.

Dates are always an important part of the product, but they are not necessarily the only ingredient.

How can I use date syrup?

Pretty much anywhere you would normally use a sweet syrup.

We like it over yoghurt, porridge and pancakes, stirred into smoothies or used in baking and desserts. It also works well in dressings and sauces when you want a little sweetness without using refined sugar.

You can also simply drizzle a little over fruit or eat it straight from the spoon.

Are date products suitable for children?

Many date products can be suitable for children, especially simple products made from dates and other familiar ingredients.

That said, it is always worth checking the ingredient list first, particularly for younger children or if there are any allergies. Products containing whole nuts, chocolate or other ingredients may not be suitable for every age.

For very young children, texture and portion size are also worth keeping in mind.

Do date products still taste like dates?

Usually, yes, but not always in the way you might expect.

Date syrup has a deep, caramel-like sweetness where the date flavour is quite noticeable. In products combined with cacao or other ingredients, the dates can sit more in the background, adding sweetness and body rather than being the main flavour.

That is part of what makes dates so versatile: they can either be the star of a product or quietly become part of it.
